Subrogation means the right of one person to take over the legal rights of other person.

This means that the insurers have the right to take over the insured claims against the third party. As stated earlier the insurance is not for gain. The insured can not claim from his insures and then also claim from the third party.

Insurance is an intangible product. Claims are the shop window of insurance. Disagreements and unhappiness do arise when it comes to claims. It is therefore, imperative that the insured be well versed with the terms, conditions and claim’s procedures as stipulated in the policy document.

The following points should be borne in mind.
(i)A claim must be reported as soon as possible or within a period of 30 days
(ii)A theft or accident must be reported to the police within 48 hours.
(iii)All relevant documentation must be furnished within 30 days
